this, without a doubt, is one of the most powerful portraits i have seen here in DA. it bursts with character in its truest form and serves as an example of what a memorable photograph is supposed to be.
age shows through the nature of his hair, and the length of his experiences (and perhaps corresponding wisdom acquired) are revealed by the lines of his face. and his eyes, ah his eyes! they sparkle! they sing of freedom and of pure joy.
he is mesmerizing and i thank you for sharing his image.
peace, old friend.

as he is a traveller ever since then, i think you might consider capturing his profile at a moment where he, perhaps contemplating, stares at nothing, at infinity with that "trippy mood" drawn upon his eyes..? well, just an idea.
Love your use of b&w.

I'm seriously amazed at this portrait. Why, you may ask?
Because I could've told you all of that about him before I even read the description. This picture burns with his personality. His age, his experience and his wisdom all come through so strongly. Those eyes are astounding.
As usual, it's technically great, as well. It's metered perfectly; the tones came out great. The lighting is great, too.
This is such an incredible personality. He reminds me of someone who I know and love, but rarely see because he, too, is a free bird who floats around the globe. I just don't know what to say- you captured it so well. That and I'm absolutely exhausted.
I kept this open for two days on my desktop, looking at it periodically, waiting 'til it felt right to leave a comment. I still don't feel like I'm there, but I have to leave something. I may come back later when my brain is functioning and leave something better.
I almost feel like this transcends visual art because so much of his spirit is in it.
